4 Dark Lip Colors You Can Rock (on Any Budget)

The bold red lip is a timeless, classic look that any woman can pull off. And this fall, it’s coming back with a vampy spin; introducing … the dark red lip.

If you’d like an even more dramatic look, try a dark plum lip, which is also huge this season. Whether you’re a plum or a red girl, you absolutely cannot go wrong. If you aren’t sure which color to rock, I’d encourage you to visit your local Ulta or Sephora and ask one of the skilled gurus to test some shades on you. They will help you figure out which color and shade works best with your skin tone!

Here are four dark lip colors that I’ve tried and highly recommend. They rank from extremely affordable to investment worthy:

1. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade Bordeaux
Looks most like: Dark Red
Price Point: $4.95
Where to find it: Target, Walmart, or order online
Pros: Lasts up to 8 hours, intense pigment, easy application

2. Rimmel London The Only One Lipstick in the color Oh-So Wicked
Looks most like: Dark Plum
Price Point: $5.82
Where to find it: Target, Walmart, Ulta, or order online
Pros: Moisturizing formula, buildable color, long-lasting

3. Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in the color Infatuation
Looks most like: Dark Plum
Price Point: $8.99
Where to find it: Target, Ulta, or order online
Pros: One of the richest affordable lip colors on the market, creamy, long-lasting

4. NARS Audacious Lipstick in the color Bette
Looks most like: Dark red
Price Point: $32
Where to find it: Sephora or order online
Pros: Single-stroke coverage, effortless application, long-lasting

In the feature image, from Dionna McCarthy Photography, I am wearing a mixture of lip colors 1 and 2. I first applied 2, Rimmel London The Only One in Oh-So Wicked, and then applied 1, Rimmel London Lasting Finish in Bordeaux, over it. I can personally attest that this combination lasted a couple hours with lots of movement. The color did not go anywhere and I was pleasantly surprised!
