A Shimmering Review: Too Faced Unicorn Tears

Makeup-Review-Too-Faced-Unicorn-Tears

I bought this because…Unicorn Tears and iridescent shimmer light blue. Done! I mean come on! Unicorns! So…First Impressions-> I got home with this magic lipstick, and it sat on my counter because…well, iridescent shimmer light blue? I mean…what DO you do with that?! LOL! I tried it on its own and was not loving it…blue iridescent shimmer! I’m not sixteen, and my edgy punk rock days are behind me. IF that is you though – welcome to your lip dream! Never fear! I did find out it’s magic secret, and now I love it!

The good news about Too Faced’s Unicorn Tears is that is very creamy, hydrating and conditioning. Unicorn Tears lipstick has fine bits of glitter. It has pretty packaging too! While not a requirement for me, it does make me happy when it is part of the package.

After some research, this is what I learned that made me come to the other side with this lipstick. Some can wear this shade of Too Faced’s La Creme Lipcolor line solo, but some may not like it. I found that when you rub it into your lips with your finger the light blue turns into a pretty pink glittery color. I had to wait about 5 minutes after rubbing for this to happen for me. I’m not sure it’s my favorite look for me personally though.

Here is the “magic” I do really like.

Drumroll…if you use another brighter shade of lipstick, you can layer Unicorn Tears over it and it tones it down to a really pretty color. So – it’s like you can get 2 shades of lipstick out of one of your favorite brighter lipsticks. This has been kind of fun to play with. For me, this is more of a fun every once in a while color to have…but, I definitely would have it.

The cons: when taking it off the glitter kind of leaves behind fairy dust on your face. I know this bothers some people. What bothers me more about this lipstick is that it isn’t that long wearing. If you have read many of my reviews than you know that is something that is a BIG DEAL for me. But, I do make an exception in the case of Unicorn Tears, because I really just wear this on occasion for a fun switch up. Another thing I don’t love is that when you take a drink from a glass, you will leave lipstick on the glass. Gauche! Stay tuned for Bonus Tip at the bottom!

I give Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lipstick in the color Unicorn Tears 4 out of 5…it rates high for the fun factor! I really want to try a few other colors! Number 1 on my list to try is Ursula (a deep plum) in the fall.

Bonus Tip: To keep lipstick from staying on your glass if you are not wearing a lip stain or long wearing lipstick discretely quickly lick the glass where you will be drinking from. Viola! No lipstick left on the glass. Ok – it looks a lil strange, and you have to do it every time you take a drink…but, this is another case of why I love long wearing lipsticks.
