5 Things You Can Do to Prevent Breast Cancer

5 Things You Can Do to Prevent Breast Cancer

In my early twenties, I started hearing more and more about breast health. I paid attention enough to know that I needed to conduct self-exams and get annual mammograms when I was older (maybe 50 years old I thought); but really, I just acknowledged that breast health was a thing. My thoughts on it all consisted of: I have breasts, and I need to pay attention. Like so many women in their early twenties, I felt invincible. No one in my family had ever had breast cancer, so it wasn’t something of concern. I had an “I’ll take care of it later” type of mentality. Until someone in my family did have breast cancer and it became an alarming concern. My mother […]

5 Things Everyone Should Buy at the Dollar Tree

5 Things Everyone Should Buy at the Dollar Tree

As the head of the household for a family of six, I find myself constantly having to buy something! Regardless of its size, many families rely on sticking to a budget. Planning and couponing are not always an option due to a number of factors including availability and time management. It’s a never-ending battle. A few months back, I walked into a Dollar Tree and it quickly became one of my favorite stores. I was surprised by how many items I so often need are available at this store for a steal; an even better bargain than you’d find at some of the most popular retailers. Below are some of my absolute favorite products to buy at Dollar Tree without worrying about

Simple Ideas for How to Enjoy Summer Break With Your Kids

Simple Ideas for How to Enjoy Summer Break With Your Kids

As summer break begins and moms brace themselves for the organized (or not so much) chaos it brings, I recall a conversation I had a few years back about the stress it can cause. Even though we’re not packing lunches, the children seem to be eating us out of house and home.  They want to start their days at 6 a.m., wanting to know, “Where are we going today and how soon?” Or, “Can I have so-and-so over?” Or the classic whining and whimpering line, “I’m bored!” The questions keep coming… It’s exactly as the old saying goes, “The days are long but the years are short.” When I was in the beginning stages of therapy for my postpartum depression, I remember venting

The-Purpose-and-Power-of-Every-Day

You May Not Understand Why This Is Happening, But You Will

As a mom, there have been many times when I had no clue what I was doing. So often, I have thrown up my hands, looked up to the heavens, and asked, “What are You doing?” I’d like to say I always turn my eyes to God when things get rough, but that’s not the case. When I transitioned from working mom to stay-at-home mom, I was constantly forgetting to do this. It was during this transition that my faith grew; where I realized that I may not always understand His plan at this moment, but eventually, I may. We tend to have many plans of our own, “But it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). Prior to becoming a

Considering a Direct Sales Business? 5 Things to Know First

A few years ago, my husband and I were struggling financially. This is not uncommon. In fact, according to a 2017 survey from CareerBuilder, “Seventy-eight percent of  full-time workers said they live paycheck to paycheck.”1 My family was part of that seventy-eight percent. In addition to living paycheck to paycheck, we were growing deeper in debt. I decided working from home in a multi-level marketing business would benefit us. I loved a line of health products I was already using; they had been helping me feel better for months. So, I looked into the business side of things with a friend who was already earning an income with the company (though I had told her many times before that I never would). I

To the Mom Who Has Postpartum Depression

When I was young, I had this grand picture of what my life would be as an adult. This vision included a thin, fit woman wearing a professional suit to work on a daily basis, owning every room she walked into. She was happy, confident, powerful, financially comfortable, a great wife and an awesome mom who balanced everything happily and gracefully. Her house was always clean, and laundry was done. Making love with her husband was a priority. She always cooked and had hot meals ready for her family. And her faith was untouchable.  She didn’t understand those other women who couldn’t balance. Why couldn’t they balance – life wasn’t that hard…right!? Then I got married, and real life started. I married
