Want to Be a Trim Healthy Mama? Try This Simple Plan

Serene Allison and Pearl Barrett are two sisters from Down Under who happen to have 19 children between them. They’ve also managed to find a way to stay healthy and trim and feed their families meals that they actually enjoy. However, it wasn’t an easy journey to get there. They’re the first to say that maintaining a healthy, balanced diet can seem impossible. In a recent BuzzFeed article, Serene said, “We as women can put on a happy face but so many of us have a deep desperate longing for a way to be trim and healthy without all the usual awfulness that goes hand in hand with that.”

We’ve all felt the disappointment of trying out a new diet that doesn’t go well. You either feel like you’re not losing enough weight or you can’t seem to stick to it for an extended period of time. Often, we want to give up on the whole “diet” thing entirely. Well, these two women don’t want you to lose hope. As they discovered what worked for their families, they began to share it with others. Thus creating their brand: Trim Healthy Mama, and it’s gaining traction with women all over!

No, you don’t have to be a mother to adopt this lifestyle. However, it does seem that mothers tend to have unique challenges as they’re juggling kids, work, and everything else life throws at them. The lifestyle is open to all women, but Pearl and Serene refer to the women adopting their plan as “Mamas.” Along with a published cookbook full of healthy recipes to achieve a smaller waistline, they also offer free recipes on their website, TrimHealthyMama.com.

One reason a lot of women with families struggle with a diet is that their husband and children don’t want to join them. However, Trim Healthy Mama kept that in mind when creating their recipes and a lot of them have become family favorites. Some of these family dishes include meatloaf, pizza, and cheeseburger pie.

1. Boost Juice

You can throw together this batter mix and use it for pancakes or waffles! Once you have cooked them, you can also freeze them which is great for a Mama on-the-go. 3. Cuffin Cake

Don’t let the name throw you, this cake can either be chocolate or cinnamon flavored. These cakes are packed with fiber and rich protein on top of having a soft texture. The idea behind the name is that this can either be a cake or a muffin, but it won’t make you into a “puffin.” This dessert is delicious and will also fill you up! Get the full recipe here.

For those who have specific food requirements, many of their recipes can be tweaked to eliminate dairy altogether or can easily become gluten-free! Another bonus to the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle is that all of the ingredients for the recipes can be found at just about any local food store. They are also inexpensive ingredients. Both Pearl and Serene were on a budget themselves when they created their cookbook, so if you are being careful with your spending too, not to worry; they’ve got you covered! They also sell their own products that range from things like protein powder all the way to their own baking blend.
