5 Quotes That Will Encourage You, Working (Super) Mom

Working moms do it all—but it’s hard! The struggle to find work and life balance is real, but in the end, what really matters is that you tried your best. At least, that’s what I’ve been told from the women who’ve seen it through. One thing I know that all of us working moms could use is a little encouragement. Just a quick note that says, “Hey, I see you. I see all of the obstacles you overcome every day. It’s not always flawless, but you put your heart and soul into it. You are a strong woman, and you’re a good mom.”

So, working mom, these 5 quotes that will encourage you:

“I think every working mom probably feels the same thing: You go through big chunks of time where you’re just thinking, ‘This is impossible—oh, this is impossible.’ And then you just keep going and keep going, and you sort of do the impossible.” Tina Fey
Some days you might wish you weren’t juggling work life and home life. You may even let your mind wander to what the grass is like on the other side…

A little encouragement when motherhood is disappointing boardBut then you look down at your feet and realize they’re planted in some pretty lush greens. The blades might be a bit wild and unruly, but boy are they rich and vibrant. So you keep walking in your beautifully untamed meadow, one day at a time.

“A child’s real ‘First’ happens in front of Mommy.” Author Unknown
First steps? First words? They simply don’t count until you’re there to witness. (Go ahead and tell your nanny to keep any evidence that undermines that to herself.)

“She never quite leaves her children at home, even when she doesn’t take them along.” Margaret Culkin Banning
It’s unfortunate that there are people who think that moms who work outside of the home are allowing someone else to raise their child. Like any decision in life, there are many factors that play into the choice to be a working mom.

I hope there will come a day when this life path won’t need to be defended. Until then, this quote is for the mama who carries her baby with her in her heart all day long—stealing glances of her child at daycare through the monitor system, texting the nanny for an update, stopping for a moment to pray for their day—you’re a good mom.

“Giving up is not an option when you have someone calling you mommy.” Author Unknown
The amount of inner strength that wells up within a woman the moment she becomes a mom is astounding. She’s confronted with a million new fears that she never knew existed, yet simultaneously infused with a zeal to conquer them all for the sake of her baby. She will fall and fail along the way, but she has become unstoppable because of this new, fierce love that is driving her.

“Anything that doesn’t get done, doesn’t need to be done.” Author Unknown
There will be a lot of things that you cannot accomplish because you’re dedicating many of your hours to work, and that’s ok. You have set your priorities to be a present parent during your time at home and a responsible employee during your time away. Let the other stuff go.

Your kid doesn’t care about a spotless, perfectly organized home to play in. She wants you to listen when she tells you about her day. Your son doesn’t mind having pizza again (in fact, it’s his favorite!), so let the mom-guilt go (and maybe test out a cauliflower crust pizza?). Enjoy your children and your job, and remember that in the grand scheme of life those investments you’ve made will create a lasting legacy.
